As a key supplier within the BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems group, this Metro Detroit (MI) business is focused on finding improvements to operations while also contributing globally thru its long history of innovation, process improvement and product development.
To support a growing product line and its focus on continuous improvement, the local leadership team is seeking an experienced Powder Metal Die Setter with a high level of knowledge of powder metal compaction and re-strike presses, excellent communication skills, and the drive for process improvement. This role will work closely with all levels of the organization to achieve success.
Above all, ensure a safe work environment while complying with safety and environmental practices, rules, and guidelines.
Follow all facility and regulatory safety and environmental procedures, including but not limited to Lock-out/Tag-out, Powered Industrial Trucks, and HazCom.
Follow process and prints to setup and adjust powder metal compaction equipment, resulting in product meeting desired specifications as outlined by internal documentation.
Independently perform pull, clean, and prep functions on presses. Transfer tooling and equipment to the Tool Room.
Assist Tool Room with the cleaning and inspection of tooling and equipment.
Accurately follow procedures to properly drain, disposition, and label the powder.
Independently perform accurate setup of tooling and automation on presses.
Accurately adjust press to perform successful process capability study and first piece release to production.
Support production by assisting Production Operators with adjustments to presses.
Utilize, update, and maintain all necessary documentation, including but not limited to process changes, audit checklists, and tooling requirements.
Actively participate on cross-functional corrective/preventive action teams.
Maintain housekeeping to ensure a safe and clean work area.
Build productive relationships with all levels of leadership, support, and productions teams to resolve problems and issues as they arise.
## Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read and understand manufacturer''s manuals, electrical schematics, and blueprints related to machinery and products.
Understanding of powder metal compaction presses, setup procedures, and tooling layouts for single and multi-level product (200-, 400-, and 800-ton presses)
Ability to successfully adhere to facility and regulatory policies, procedures, and standards covering safety, quality, and job specific functions.
Shift flexibility to support production in a 24-hour environment, including overtime hours.
Ability to establish credibility within the organization based on expertise of job function, interpersonal skills, and written & verbal communication.
Proven commitment to safety, quality, and problem solving in a team-based environment.
Ability to obtain internal Hi-lo and Low-Lift powered industrial truck licenses.
Intermediate level computer skills to effectively utilize MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and equipment specific programming.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One or more years in a manufacturing facility, preferably within the automotive industry.
Experience as a full-time Setup Operator in a powder metal manufacturing facility preferred.
