Legal Secretary

A legal services firm in Michigan is currently seeking a new Legal Secretary to join their growing team in the Metro Detroit area.
Responsibilities:
The Legal Secretary will:
Prepare legal filings, including:
formatting documents, pulling exhibits, and proofreading & redacting documents Draft and send routine correspondence Prepare court forms such as notices, motions, and other simple pleadings E-file court filings in both State and Federal Court Open new matters and process matter for closing Maintain attorney calendars and ensure all dates/deadlines, conferences, and depositions are calendared Manage expense reimbursement Retrieve court decisions from Westlaw Creating, maintaining and updating contact sheets / docket sheets Manage bills for third party vendors, process check requests and follow up with the Accounting team Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:

years Litigation experience Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree Familiarity with State and Federal court procedures and rules Experience with filing briefs (Table of Contents and Table of Authorities) Experience using a Document management System Microsoft Office proficient (Word, Outlook, Excel) Great interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Strong attention to detail Highly organized Desired Skills:
Prior experience with Litigation procedures & processes, e-filing, and creating table of authorities Insurance Defense background Familiarity with iManage Recommended Skills Attention To Detail Communication Coordinating Copy Editing Document Management Systems Filing Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
