Position Overview
Responsible for the planning, management, and execution of all key activities involving the acquisition, management, transport, and shipping of materials for plants in the A123 Systems Transportation Group. Activities include but are not limited to production planning, material control, scheduling, and logistics including project management and achievement of business unit cost and timing targets . In addition, individual hired will be responsible for developing and supporting processes and systems to report and validate compliance to environmental and customs requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
Direct all activities relating to near term Master Scheduling.
Direct Suppliers and logistics providers and ensure production and program execution to timing and cost objectives.
Ensure material availability through material requirements planning including material procurement, systems maintenance, inventory policy, lead time verification, long lead item forecasting, while meeting inventory accuracy and daily dollar targets.
Participate in the design and develop and implementation of material flow and line side presentation with emphasis on lean manufacturing strategies and space utilization.
Direct all Logistics functions including shipping, receiving, carrier selection, 3PL/4Pl selection, International and domestic shipping.
Integrate logistics with business systems or processes while working with legal council to resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports or customer issues.
Analyze all aspects of logistics to determine the most cost effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
Ensure program compliance to hazardous materials shipping and trade compliance requirements. Review programs for impact of regulations such as the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Customs and Border Protection Regulations.

Specific Skills/Abilities
The position requires the ability to manage multiple projects, communicate with senior management and engineering teams, and provide cross business functional assessments. Individual must have strong communication skills, knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, have the ability to direct hourly and salaried workforces. The position requires strong strategic planning skills with capability to be hands on meet the corporate targets for cost, inventory, and efficiently while managing the daily activities supporting manufacturing operations.

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree
15 - 20 years management experience with strong background in:
o Master Scheduling, Materials Requirements Planning, and Inventory Management.
o Proficiency in use of Manufacturing Planning and Control Systems (QAD preferred)
o International trade compliance and shipment of hazardous materials.
APICS Certification a plusEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
