Job Description Job Purpose
This position is responsible for managing all Value Management product cost and optimization activities such as Cost Reduction, Cost Avoidance and Cost Engineering/Value Capture for multiple TRW global business units.
Position will manage the idea generation, technical and financial feasibility assessments, approval, and implementation of Cost Reduction and Cost Avoidance projects to support the Operating Plan and LRP as well as lead all Cost Engineering/Value Capture efforts for the business units.
Other responsibilities include global coordinatation and communication of business unit projects in the emerging market regions of AP and Brazil. In the emerging markets, the position will be responsible for managing global communication, assisting with implementation strategies and ensuring that the projects are conforming to design standards for both regions.
Manage transformation of assigned BUs to support Direct Material Optimization using clean sheets and design to cost tool kits: Specifically: support of (1) core development teams with design to cost tool kits, (2) sourcing with clean sheet targets as requested by Purchasing, and (3) value capture projects.
Major Job Duties
Manage global business unit VM Teams to identify cost reduction opportunities. Primary areas of focus include product design optimization, manufacturing, operational efficiency, and supply chain optimization. Oversee the same for the other region through close collaboration with the Regional VMT Manager. Manage support of (1) core development teams with design to cost tool kits, (2) sourcing with clean sheet targets as requested by purchasing, and (3) value capture projects.
Manage the development of next year's annual VMT operating plan while executing this year's plan. Host regular Value Management reviews with VP Operations and staff. Coordinate and host regular Value Management reviews with business unit VP of Operations and staff. Review technical details, timing and financial status of VM projects and execute actions. Build relationships with all TRW functions to ensure company wide ownership of Value Management projects and financial goals
Manage business unit projects and if applicable, work closely with the VMT Manager to develop the implementation strategy for that region and the emerging markets (AP, SA). Manage global communication and implementation strategy between all regions.
Ensure cooperation with business unit Sales teams to develop strategy and customer satisfaction actions with regards to implementing Value Management projects.
Coordinate with regional business unit Value Management Team Manager to ensure a global presence within the BU. All projects from either region are to be evaluated for read-across opportunity. All reports to Executive Management are to be coordinated and presented as a global view while each region will require separate monthly reporting of financials to Purchasing and Finance Depts.
Managerial activities required to lead a global team such as EP&DP, employee development, training plans and compensation reviews.
Complete various assignments from the business unit VP of Operations or Global VMT Director.
